American Majority just published a great guide to using Twitter as a communication tool to support political activism at the grass roots.

BHO and his merry band used Twitter and similar tools to great effect in the recent elections. Now that we other Americans—you know, the ones with jobs—are getting sucked into the political arena, we ought to become familar with the enemy's arsenal so that we can co-opt it and negate his tactical advantages.

Catherina Wojtowicz of the Chicago Tea Patriots was kind enough to invite us to a rally outside the offices of Congressman Dan Lipinski (D-IL) this past Saturday. Apparently the Congressman had committed to being on hand from 1100-1300, but he never showed up.

Draw your own conclusions.

Anyway, there was no real opposition expected, so Shara and I just threw on our Black Jacks, picked up a couple of flags, and joined the crowd. It was great to see over a hundred American Citizens out on the street taking their Government to task—even if their official Government representative couldn't be bothered to attend—and the honks of support from the folks driving by on Archer Avenue were often loud and frequent enough to drown the protesters out completely. Nothing wrong with that!

There were a couple of odd ducks at one end of the formation, kids who apparently thought that their lives ought to be subsidized by "rich people" who aren't their parents. I thought it was a little tasteless that they were carrying signs obviously intended to leave the impression that they were on our side, but then again the messages on their signs were so thoroughly ignorant that only a fool would have seen them as anything but stooges for the Statists. Here's a video of a very well-informed lady taking their insipid arguments apart:

Incidentally, I can't say enough good things about Catherina, who is one of the primary Tea Party rally organizers in Chicago. She has been working night and day—entirely on her own nickel, I might add—to get all of us out here pulling in the same direction, and all her hard work is really beginning to pay off.

The only thing that failed Catherina Saturday was her voice. If there's anything an old squid knows, though, it's how to yell... so I picked up the bullhorn and rallied the crowd for a while:

Apparently Americans love liberty, hate tyranny, and really want the hand of Government off their bodies and out of their pockets. Who knew?

Here's a disabled Marine veteran going nuclear on Congressman Brian "Brown Shirts" Baird (D-WA) over health care, ultimately winding up with the quote that is the title of this post. Priceless. (Hat tip: Smitty)

Big rally today outside Congressman Dan Lipinski's office. No trouble at all anticipated, so Shara and I just threw on our Black Jacks and drove down. Lipinski never even showed up, which struck me as cowardly, since the folks gathered outside his office were mostly from his district. A ton of support from the traffic up & down Archer Avenue, as well... I'l afraid the good Congressman may be in for a nasty surprise come 2010 unless he gets religion on Socialism.

I posted a fuzzy picture to the Twitter feed. Next time I'll spend a little less time waving a big Navy Jack and more time taking pictures.

I flipped on some Fox morning news show as I was getting ready for work this morning and almost choked on my coffee when they ran a video of David Letterman identifying anti-Socialist protesters at recent Town Hall meetings as the "American Taliban."

Um.

The video is not available yet—I'll post it as soon as it is—but in a year filled with outrageous characterizations by the Left of Americans who disagree with them, this has got to be the most outrageous example by far.

Let's just do a quick comparison, shall we?

  • The Taliban point guns at people who disagree with them. Town Hall protesters point their fingers.
  • The Taliban stone women who allow their faces to be seen in public. At least half of the Town Hall protesters are women.
  • The Taliban are indirectly responsible for the violent deaths of thousands of American citizens. The Tea Party protesters are fathers and mothers and brothers and sisters to more than their share of those dead.

I would say that Letterman ought to be ashamed of himself, but he has already demonstrated himself to be immune to shame. So I will simply wonder whether the next Town Hall meeting will feature SEIU thugs shouting the word "Taliban!" as they stomp the daylights out of another American Citizen in their unofficial capacity as the Administration's grape-shirted enforcers.

I think I speak for all Navy Jacks when I say: Not on my watch!

8/24/2009 Video Update

There isn't any! I have no idea why... everything ELSE that gap-toothed idiot says is up on YouTube within minutes of him saying it. But not this.

Oh, well... don't take my word for it. Ask Michelle Malkin, or just Google it.

President Obama visited Montana last Friday. Watching the video footage, you get the impression that the entire state's human population (and most of the trees) are solidly and enthusiastically behind the President and his vision of socialized health care.

Right?

Not so, says Montana resident Sue in a letter to Pamela Geller's Atlas Shrugs blog:

During the week, cargo by the TONS was being shipped in constantly. Airport employees could not believe how it just kept coming. Though it was our President coming several expressed how excessive it was, especially during a recession. $$$$$ Late Tuesday/early Wednesday the 12th, they said that tickets would be handed out on Thursday 9am at two locations and the president would be arriving around 12:30 Friday. Thursday morning about 600 tickets were passed out. However, 1500 were printed at a Local printing shop per White House request. Hmmmm... 900 tickets just DISAPPEARED.

Read the letter... apparently the President's staff needed those 900 extra tickets to stack the hall in Obama's favor.

But the real action occurred outside. Once again, SEIU figured in heavily:

On Friday Joe and I got out to the airport about 10:45am. The groups that wanted to protest Obama's spending and healthcare had gotten a permit to protest and that area was roped off. But that was not to be. A large bus carrying SEIU (Service Employees International Union) members drove up onto the area (illegal)and unloaded right there. It was quite a commotion and there were specifically 2 SEIU men trying to make trouble and start a fight. Police did get involved and arrested the one man but they said they did not have the manpower to remove the SEIU crowd.

The SEIU crowd was very organized and young. About 99% were under the age of 30 and they were not locals! They had bullhorns and PROFESSIONALLY made signs. Some even wore preprinted T-shirts. Oh, and Planned Parenthood folks were with them.....professing abortion rights with their T-shirts and preprinted signs. (BTW, all these folks did have a permit to protest in ANOTHER area)

Those against healthcare/spending moved away from the SEIU crowd to avoid confrontation. They were orderly and respectful. Even though SEIU kept coming over and walking through, continuing to be very intimidating and aggressive at the direction of the one SEIU man.

So once again we have a band of union thugs acting as agents of Government to intimidate Citizens exercising their Constitutionally guaranteed rights to free assembly and expression. Local police did their best, but were simply outnumbered and out-maneuvered by the well-organized SEIU crowd.

Let's get the word out, shipmates! From Bozeman to Baton Rouge, no event is so small that our Statist President can't drum up an army of thugs to silence the voices of American Citizens in protest. And no army of thugs is so large that it can lurch its ham-hocked way through a stalwart line of trusty Navy Jacks.

Hat tip: Smitty.
